The AVANTONE
AK-Type VII is truly a “breakthrough”
microphone. It can be compared directly to the very
finest European omni reference mics…but at a third of
their cost!
The AK-Type VII was commissioned to
establish a new performance standard in an as-of-yet
unachievable price point.
Until now, most Asian built mics were
created to conform to the lower end of the price
spectrum…..Often referred to as “good-for-the-money”
The AK-Type VII is very different.
It is designed and precision built
in limited quantities to “no-compromise” standards
.Each mic is hand assembled and tested .
Most Asian-made mics have cast zinc
bodies to save on money. Our rugged AK-Type VII microphone body and capsule
assembly are precision machined of
polished stainless steel
With its extremely broad and linear
frequency response , the AK-Type VII can also be used for
critical acoustical calibration measurements and testing.
The AK-Type VII excels in
High-SPL / close-miking situations.
Complies with IEC651 TYPE 1 STANDARDS
Uses
include: High-SPL sources like kick
drums, drum overheads, brass, electric guitar , as well
as the delicate nuances of piano, choral & orchestral
recording and acoustic
instruments. It also is superb for Foley work.

I have put the AK-Type VII up as the shoulder drum
mic replacing the vintage Gefell 582 Omni
“Glyn Johns
style” and it works great! The 582 was the only one
to capture the roar of the toms along with the
openness of the kit too until now. This technique is
my secret weapon which works on the AK-Type VII
great. I've tried every type of mic and only a small
diaphragm wide spectrum condenser works and is phase
correct. Also I can say it's the best acoustic
guitar mic in the world and even better than an
original Telefunken KM 54 or KM 56 nickel cap/ tube
mic. This also includes tracking mandolin/ bouzouki/
12 strings/ mono piano (which I prefer on rock
tracks over stereo)… And the testing is still in
progress…
